The major route to Cairns comes through the Cairns International Airport - located 7 kilometres north of the City. Airport Avenue runs off Sheridan Street on the above Cairns map. The airport serves International, Domestic and other general aviation flights. Servicing local and overseas tourists and regional communities in North Queensland.
The main road way into Cairns is the Bruce highway and runs north into the city. This major arterial road runs through the city, changes names a few times, and comes out the other side as the Captain Cook Highway and leads to the Northern Beaches and Port Douglas (Shown as Mulgrave Road running east-west and Sheridan Street running north-south on the map above).
The Cairns Seaport on Trinity Inlet is the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. Many tour operators run out of the Reef Fleet Terminal including large catamarans, cruise ships and smaller boats. At M10 on the Cairns map you will find the Reef Fleet Terminal just below the Cairns Marina. Below the Reef Terminal at M11 on the Cairns map is the freight wharves of Trinity Wharf where the larger commercial ships berth.
